A spoon for every bite12/12/2022 (If you are Dr. Ownby and we are in class, the slideshow is at the very bottom of this blog. ) As a child, I often would hear these words. "A tortilla, a spoon for every bite." Needless to say I did not learn to use a spoon or fork until I was already in school. Even to this day, when finances are tight and there is not much in the house. You can still eat as a king if you have the three gifts that the wise men gave to Jesus Christo Hernandez when they visited him in the manger in Mexico City all those years ago. The food of legend, Beans, Rice, and Tortillas. All joking aside, a tortilla is a true comfort food. When prepared the right way, it can be the best tasting food you could ever hope to have. Not to mention the fact that you do not need a spoon when eating beans if you have a tortilla. Just tear off a piece and use it to scoop and eat. Then repeat the process to your hearts content. The smoke is the blessings of Jesus, as you can plainly see, the prayers have paid off. Now just a final toss onto the steaming pile of heaven and it is almost time for dinner. A spoon for every bite, who could ever ask for more from life.

Assignment 6: seeing red.12/6/2022 This assignment was a fun one to do. Due to schedule, I decided to do this assignment with one of my classmates at the Theater department. It is always fun getting to watch Jazz rehearse and work on their monologues for the various projects they are involved in. I am thankful they let me photograph them while they worked. The many faces of Jazz in red. Assignment 5 - Old Fort Hall11/29/2022 The old Fort hall Monument and marker. This site has changed much over the years since the fort was first built in 1834. I wish I could have found an image of the fort when it was still standing, but it was flooded and demolished in 1863 after having a history of being occupied by many different groups. For example, during the civil war it was occupied by volunteer troops of the Union Army during the Civil War. The fort would be relocated and rebuilt just north of the original location, but a year later the site was abandoned. This is an area I visit frequently, often times multiple days of the week. It is one of the few places left near here where we have a herd of wild bison and horses that roam. It is also a beautiful place where I have photographed bald eagles, red-tailed hawks, great horned owls, moose, among many other amazing creatures.
Assignment 4 - Damn it's dark out here.10/24/2022 I have never bothered to photograph the stars before, nor have I really stopped to look skyward often the past few years. The closest I can remember is a quick snapshot of the moon a few months back during a day when it was glowing red. For the purpose of the class, I focused on picture number two and cleaned it up. The second picture is the original, and the third is the finished version.
Having the chance to take this small trip outside of town with the class provided a great chance to actually talk to the others and laugh a bit. Which was much needed after the stresses of this semester. Being able to pause, breathe and look to the stars was also a great way to relax. for the first time in years I stopped to appreciate the stars, and also found myself lost in wonder. A person would have to be a fool to believe that we are the only intelligent life in the universe. Once you get out of town and are away from the light pollution, the brilliance and beauty of the sky is a wonder to behold. A Panoramic view...10/2/2022 After popping a tire on the road to Chesterfield, I was at a loss as to what to do for this assignment. I originally thought to go out onto the reservation, but due to time constraints in my schedule I tried for something a little closer. Driving out to Scout Mountain gave me plenty of opportunities to find spots to sit and observe the wind through the trees, and that is how I found the very subject I wished to capture.
Zoo Idaho - Assignment 2: Themes9/20/2022 The theme that I chose to work on for this assignment was the beauty of nature. For the purpose of this, as I was unable to get out to the locations that I originally desired to drive to, I decided to stop by the local zoo. I spent 4 hours there wandering and taking shots of each animal that I was able to see. The bobcat was one that I spent quite a bit of time with and got many beautiful shots of. The elk as well was a favorite subject. There are many more photos in the collection, but these are the ones I felt compelled to post. The owl, with his cynical gaze, the racoon longing for freedom, the sleepy fox, the wise bobcat, and the majestic elk.
